Lake County Indiana Genealogy can extend your search by locating specific life event information about your ancestor. Research typically requires from one to five hours to complete. This research includes a detailed analyses, report, and documentation for all findings. 

1) Local access rules apply to East Chicago, Gary or Hammond. For birth or death records from these city's, please contact the respective Health Department.
2) All marriage records are at the Lake County Clerk's Office, Crown Point, Indiana. Marriage records begin about 1846.

3) Vital records requiring travel to the Lake County Government Center at Crown Point are billed the hourly rate plus document cost.

4) Photocopies range from $0.15 at many libraries to $1.00  at government offices.
5) Probate case files can be lengthy. Files over ten pages require prepayment before copying.
6) Obituaries are copied from papers at the Hammond Public Library and are not charged the hourly rate. The hourly rate applies to all other obituaries copied from other libraries.
